Incident Management: Security Experts Highlight Links between IT and Physical Issues
Convergence of IT, Physical Security and Incident
Management can either Enhance Protection or Increase Exposure
Los Angeles, CA, July 14, 2003 – In
separate reports and announcements, ContingenZ Corporation’s Michael Miora and Computer Associates Ron Moritz,
both internationally recognized and certified CISSP security experts, warn
businesses that linking physical protection issues with security and incident
management can enhance a company’s overall security posture or, if done
without proper planning, undermine protections and increase exposure.
Ron Moritz explained in a recent press
conference that, if managed correctly, the
convergence of physical and virtual security can enhance security through the
correlation of physical security events to IT security events. But if managed
improperly, the same convergence can increase a company’s exposure. In
previously published research, Michael
Miora linked the three major areas of IT and Operational
Security, Disaster Recovery and Physical Security under the umbrella of Incident
Management.
According to Miora, “Incident Management is the vehicle
for building and managing plans, procedures and capabilities that protect a
company against the threats they face, be they cyber attacks, other security
attacks or physical events such as fire, flood or explosions.”
ContingenZ Corporation has developed extensive methodologies for addressing the
convergence issues for large enterprises. Its upcoming Incident Management
Software (IMCD™) automates the process so that small businesses can get the
same overall benefit as large ones, but without the costs incurred by large
companies for extended consulting engagements.
Information about ContingenZ Corporation and
its upcoming IMCD™ software is available at the company’s web site (www.contingenz.com).
